Rossi Gets Official Medical Clearance
To Race at Sachsenring
Valentino Rossi has passed medical
checks at the Sachsenring circuit this afternoon and will compete in
this weekend’s German MotoGP race.
The Italian had declared himself fit
to contest round eight of the 2010 MotoGP world championship yesterday
after medical assessments in Italy.
But his participation in this
weekend’s Sachsenring clash was subject to final approval from the
circuit’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Juber Fischer. Rossi has just
passed the medical examination and will ride his factory Yamaha YZR-M1
in practice tomorrow afternoon.
The 31-year-old broke his right leg
during practice for his home race at Mugello less than six weeks ago
and it was initially thought he’d be sidelined until mid-August at
least.
But the nine-times world champion has
enjoyed a speedy recovery, though he is still walking with the aid of
crutches.
He tested a Yamaha R1 World Superbike
machine in Misano and Brno recently and Rossi, who missed the Mugello,
Silverstone, Assen and Catalunya races, will be back in MotoGP action
way ahead of schedule.
He won the season's opening race in
Qatar and was lying second in the championship standings when he
crashed out in Mugello.
