PORT DOVER Diehard bikers face
blowing snow for the first Friday the 13th motorcycle rally this
30th anniversary year.
Environment Canada says periods of
snow and blowing snow are on tap along with beer tent suds for the
hardy who brave rain on Thursday and temperatures hovering around
freezing on the big day.
Nevertheless, organizers of the
first of three rallies planned for this year — the 30th
anniversary of the massive bike rallies which began with a handful
of friends meeting for a beer Nov. 13, 1981 — say they expect
several thousand riders will visit the Lake Erie town.
The good news for everyone else is
there are no road closures planned Friday, a source of annoyance for
town residents during the better attended summer rallies.
Weather should be better for the
next two Friday the 13ths this year, in April and July.
